Amy: I started yoga as a way to control stress and anxiety and the more I got into it, the more I realized that it is more than exercise, it is a lifestyle. I love the spiritual side of yoga and try to bring that experience to my students while teaching. I find that I use my yoga techniques every day whether at work or home and they have made me a stronger, more relaxed person both physically and emotionally.
Lindsay: Nine years ago I began studying yoga and developing an at home practice. Since then I have allowed myself to enjoy the art of learning as a Hatha Yoga student and teacher. My at home practice is still strong but I am also inspired by attending group classes. Through my certification process, I have gained knowledge and skills needed to give my students a safe and compassionate practice. I believe that anyone can make yoga a part of his or her life. I am thrilled to help students modify poses to accommodate their needs and find their inner strength.
Liz: Yoga is my teacher. I learn about honoring my body, the depth of my commitment, my spiritual direction and the state of my willingness. Yoga gives me peace, open heartedness, flexibility of mind and body and a more willing spirit. If I pay attention to all that I think and feel about yoga, I can carve the true path I must take to deeper physical, spiritual and emotional growth. When I am on the mat, I can learn everything I need to know about myself. Whether I practice or don't practice. Yoga is my teacher.
Lynne: I began yoga later in life and immediately fell in love with it. I went from one class a week to two and then to four, practicing every single day. I wanted to know more about all aspects of yoga so I enrolled in teacher training, never really expecting to teach. When I retired as a middle school teacher, opportunities arose and I started my second career as a yoga instructor. Yoga has kept me young in body, mind and spirit. It has changed me from a Type A personality to a C and is an integral part of my life.
Molly: I have always been active and fell in love with yoga the first time I tried it. I teach elementary school and it really helps keep my stress under control. I'm finishing up my masters degree now and yoga has provided me with the tools necessary to focus on studying as well as breathing techniques that help with the anxiety that comes on test days. I look forward to being able to teach more yoga in the near future.
Rachel: I became a mom in 2000 and needed to find mental balance as well as some exercise that would help me stay physically fit. I tried yoga with many different instructors and fell in love with vinyasa flow. I love teaching pre natal yoga and helping woman become more aware of how amazing their bodies are.
Sanghamitra (Mitra): I began my practice of pranayama, meditation and hatha yoga years ago in India. After moving to the United States, my practice grew deeper day by day with more emphasis on vinyasa and ashtanga yoga. I completed my 200 hour yoga teaching at Yoga Now in Chicago. The benefits of my practice have been immense from the very first day. I firmaly believe that yoga is a complete science that works at the deepest levels to help us maintain fitness and well-being while bringing harmony to the body, mind and spirit. Mitra is also a practitioner of Reiki, an ancient Japanese method of healing. Let her know if you are interested in a Reiki session.
Teresa: I enrolled in my first yoga class in 1997 to relieve stress and improve my flexibility. I found that yoga helped me in many other ways, physically, mentally and emotionally. As my love of yoga grew, I wanted to be able to share it with family members and friends. It was then that I decided to become a yoga instructor. I love teaching kids as well as the more gentle yoga.
